Meet Samuel Givens

Throughout his time on the frontlines, Samuel has served in multiple critical leadership roles, including Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5), Crew Boss Trainee, and Certified Faller. His intimate understanding of wildfire behavior and forest health was forged in the heat of active fire management, giving him a unique perspective on how to effectively mitigate risk before a fire ever starts.

Samuel’s passion extends beyond the field and into education; he is dedicated to empowering homeowners with "fire-smart" strategies and sustainable land management solutions. By combining technical expertise with a lifelong dedication to forestry, Samuel ensures that every project in the Montana division is executed with precision, care, and a focus on long-term environmental resilience.

Based in Montana, Samuel brings over seven years of nationwide wildland firefighting experience to the lead of our Montana operations.

Meet Robert Berry

Robert’s firefighting career has taken him across the North American continent, spanning the Western United States and Canada—including Oregon, Washington, California, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. This extensive "on-the-ground" experience across diverse terrains gives him a specialized understanding of fire behavior and fuel management in various climates.

Now settled in the greater Spokane area, Robert is dedicated to serving the local community by applying his wildland expertise to residential landscapes. His mission is to help Inland Northwest property owners mitigate tree hazards and implement proven defensible space strategies, ensuring homes and families are better protected from the ever-present threat of wildfire.

As the Operator of the Washington-Spokane Division, Robert Berry brings a decade of unique environmental experience and a deep-seated passion for forest stewardship to Givens Fire & Forestry. Robert’s career began in the rugged landscapes of Southeast Alaska, where he spent 10 years living and working on the edge of the Tongass National Forest. This immersion in one of the world’s most complex ecosystems laid the foundation for his transition into professional wildland firefighting in 2020.
